A few months ago I told you all about how I was on the hunt to find the perfect solution for a small office space that we could set up in our apartment for me to work from on a daily basis (see post HERE). I searched all over the web to find the perfect desk that wouldn’t take up too much space, and in the end chose the Sawyer Leaning Desk from Crate and Barrel. What initially drew me to this piece was its modern lines and lighter finish which doesn’t make the desk seem bulky. (more…)
Hey Friends! Can you believe it’s August already?! July was such a whirlwind full of traveling to new places, visiting family, and working on fun design projects. Since I’ve been a little MIA this past month, I thought would be fun to do a little recap of 5 things I’ve been up to!
Celebrated my 26th birthday on July 1st!
I was fortunate to be able to join my husband on a business trip to NYC. It’s funny how I grew up in Syracuse, NY (only 4 hours north of NYC), and the handful of times I’ve been to the city I still hadn’t had the chance to do all the touristy activities. So while we were there we booked a boat tour along the Hudson River and got a grand tour of the city’s skyline by boat. It was definitely the highlight of our trip!
I had the privilege of working on some really fun projects! A few weeks ago I had a sweet newlywed couple contact me about helping them design the first floor of their newly built home. It was such a fun project to work on since it was a blank slate and my clients had great style. I loved getting to play a part in turning their new house into a home for them! More details on this project coming soon.
Spent some time visiting with family in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Getting to escape the Charlotte humidity and enjoy cooler summer temps was a dream! Especially since it involved lake views, s’mores, and daily sunsets.
Ate my way through the month with WAY too much ice-cream 🙂 Hands down my favorite after dinner treat!
I’m looking forward to the month ahead full of new design projects, creative collaborations with amazing bloggers, and lots of inspiration for affordable design ideas for your own home! Before you know it, Fall will be in full swing and a New Season = Home Refresh. If you’re looking to update a space in your home on a budget, I’m your girl! And the best news is that you don’t have to be local! We do everything 100% virtually and design for anyone, anywhere. Just head to the contact page to send me a message on your project details and we’ll get started on turning your #housegoals into reality!

Hey Friends! Today I wanted to share 10 Ideas for Small Home Offices. Apartment living can be challenging when it comes to finding the proper furniture pieces that have the right scale and functionality. Earlier this year my husband Jacob and I both transitioned into working from home. It’s been a little bit of an adjustment for us, especially with living in a one bedroom apartment. We have a desk in our dining area for Jacob to work at, and I usually work from the sofa. As much as I love working from the sofa with our pup next to me, it’s not the most productive spot for me to get my work done.
We’ve come up with a plan to set up a another desk area in our bedroom so that the two of us can have our own little space to work. I am on the hunt to find a solution for us to create a small work space. Something that won’t take up too much room or look to bulky in our little apartment bedroom. Here’s 10 inspiration photos that have some great ideas for small work spaces!
Pin the graphic below to refer back to these ideas 🙂
Stay tuned to see what we come up with!

Over the past few months I have been working on coming up with a game plan on how I can serve others by using my design background. Since I was an undergrad, I’ve always loved the idea of starting my own business, but I let fear and doubt get the best of me. It wasn’t until the beginning of this year that my perspective on what I wanted my life to look like really changed.<!–more–>
My family and I went through a really rough season last year when my husband Jacob was severely sick with Ulcerative Colitis. We experienced several trips in and out of the hospital, tried countless different treatment plans, and went through complications with surgery that turned our world upside down. It was one of the most challenging times of our lives. Fast forward 7 months later and it is by the grace of God that he is now completely healthy.
It was walking through that tough season that helped me to gain a better appreciation for this life that we are given. I started to reflect on areas of my life in a new way and realized that I no longer wanted to become complacent with things in my life that weren’t 100% fulfilling. I wanted to travel and have new experiences. I wanted to enjoy the little moments more often and stop taking them for granted. And I wanted to pursue new things that were only “ideas” to me because of my fear of failure or feeling inadequate. So here I am a few months later, turning this idea of owning my own business into a reality. I know you’re probably thinking, “Taylor, this has nothing to do with design”, but I wanted to start by sharing my heart with you on why I finally decided to pursue this thing.
Ok now onto the fun stuff…Design! I first heard of virtual interior design (e-design) right after I graduated with my design degree. I thought, “This is such a genius idea! You’re telling me I can design for people by working from home and shopping online at my favorite stores all day?! Sign me up!!” I immediately knew it was something I wanted to do some day. It was around the same time that Jacob and I got married, and I couldn’t wait to make my Instagram and Pinterest #housegoals come to life in our first home together! Then I was faced with the harsh #adulting reality that we had school loan payments quickly approaching…WORST.THING.EVER! So I got to work sourcing the internet for budget-friendly furniture and decor that was a reflection of our personalities and functioned well for our lifestyle. Basically doing an e-design for our own home 🙂 Since then I’ve wanted to serve other millennials like myself by helping them make their first apartment or house a place that they could call home, and all without spending thousands of dollars. I truly believe you can turn your dream home into reality one Target find at a time!
So that’s my story in a nutshell. Thank you so much for stopping by and supporting me along this entrepreneurial journey. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for it, and to share every step of the way with you guys. I hope you stick around for a little while and check out my new site, and if you’re looking for help around your home, I’m your girl!
