Outdoor Patio Design

Outdoor Patio Design

Happy Friday Friends! One of my favorite areas in a home is the outdoor space. I LOVE spending time outdoors and find it’s a huge mood booster for me. When my husband and I go out for a date night and try to decide where to go for dinner, my first deciding factor doesn’t have anything to do with the food, it’s “Does this place have a nice outdoor patio?”

A few weeks ago we went out for dinner at a restaurant with an incredible outdoor patio space with beautiful stone fireplaces, strung garden lights, and the trees were full of pink blooms so that was an added bonus!! I think I said “I love it here” like 15 times while we were sitting there eating our dinner.  When a place has a good atmosphere I’m more likely to linger longer and enjoy the company of the people I’m with. To me that’s what design is ALL about!! Creating spaces that allow people to slow down and soak up the good stuff our lives are filled with.

Today I am sharing a patio design with y’all that will hopefully inspire you to create your own outdoor oasis to share with friends and family. This modern patio would be the perfect place to host a killer BBQ, or have family dinners. It may not come with pink blooming trees, BUT it does come with a bar cart so I think that’s a pretty good trade off 😉

Modern Boho Nursery Design

Modern Boho Nursery Design

Hey friends! A while back Taylor asked me what my favorite spaces were to create. Immediately I thought NURSERY! I have had four babies in the last five years, so my life for the most part has been spent engulfed in all things baby. Nightly nursings always had me scrolling Pinterest and online window shopping for all the best baby decor.

This nursery was created for all the moms with baby boys. Three out of my four kiddos are little men, so this was a lot of fun for me to put together.

When you think nursery, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? A Crib! When I came across this navy crib, I knew it would serve as the perfect focal point for this modern boho space. It has brass accents on the outside corners that give it an updated feel, while tying in perfectly with the brass table lamp and the pulls on the end table.

I brought in more blue tones with the geometric-patterned area rug, and the boho woven wall hanging. The texture of the wall hanging softens the room and coordinates with the relaxed style of the Magnolia pillow.

Another essential piece in a nursery is a rocker. Rocking those sweet babies will be one of your most prized memories. This comfortable and stylish glider adds to the aesthetic style of the room and contrasts against the clean lines of the crib.

My favorite piece in this design is the Trendy Timber’s name plaque. How Cute! It’s the perfect piece to make your nursery a special place for your new addition. I sourced it from one of my favorite Etsy shop owners that I follow on Instagram! Her work is beautiful and offers a variety of custom styles.

Thank you for checking out this cute nursery setup. I had so much fun putting it together! If this design board inspired you, we can help with a custom solution to create memories in your own home.

Room Repeat: A Collected Monochrome Entryway

Room Repeat: A Collected Monochrome Entryway

via: West Elm

Hello Friends! I hope you’ve had a great week. Today I’m here to share this month’s Room Repeat! Last months Room Repeat post was a huge hit, so I can’t wait to see what you guys take away from this one!

It’s no secret that I LOVE West Elm. I could spend hours wandering around their store dreaming up different combinations of furniture pieces and accessories. So when I came across this neutral entryway on the West Elm blog, I knew it would be perfect for a Room Repeat post. So let’s dive in!

What caught my eye right away in this space was how warm and inviting it is. I don’t know about you, but that’s how I want people to feel when they walk into my house. So let’s break it down and see what elements we can pull out of this design so that you can create that same feeling in your own entryway.

The main piece in this design is the console. Not only does it have a really clean look to it, but the medium wood tones feel really welcoming. And the brass accents compliment the wood finish perfectly. To coordinate with the brass on the console, a large framed mirror is hung above for wall decor. It helps reflect light and gives the perfect opportunity to make sure you’re looking good before you head out the door 😉

Since most of the decor is fairly neutral in this space, adding in a potted plant helps add a pop of greenery. It pairs perfectly with the wood tones in the console. And how about that super fun planter?! I love that it has some height so that it really stands out on its own as one of the main design elements of this space. Above the plant hangs a framed California print to create contrast against the white wall. I like that it’s not perfectly centered above the plant, or the console to create an eclectic vibe.

To finish this design off, a funky modern lamp is placed on top of the console for ambient lighting. I love the sculptural shape it has! Books are added to the bottom with fun accessories to create a collected look. The brass turtle coordinates with the brass mirror and console accents, while the black globe works well with the black lamp and framed print. And last but not least are some decorative candles. They are the perfect element to make your home feel inviting for guests!

Scroll down to see how you can repeat this look in your own home!

Top Picks from the Hearth and Hand Spring Collection

I’ve got some exciting news to share with ya’ll today…we have someone new joining the Taylor Schaap Design Blog!! A few weeks ago a friend of mine reached out to me about teaming up together. A few conversations later, we both agreed she would bring a great amount of value to the team. She’s a wife, a mom of 4 kiddos, a photographer, a creative, and has great style! Friends…Meet Courtney!

Courtney and I first met in 4th grade and over the years we’ve shared a love for organizing, home decor, cute office supplies, and all things Target. I remember our favorite days in high school were when we met up for lunch at Panera and would head to Target afterwards just to wander the store looking at all the things we couldn’t afford with our part-time job pay. Now here we are almost ten years later dreaming up blog topics together to share with all of you!

For Courtney’s very first contribution to the blog, she is sharing all about our top picks from the Hearth and Hand Spring collection!
